Boise Train Depot | | | | Boise's old Union Pacific Railroad Depot, built in 1925, was recently restored by the Morrison-Knudsen Company. Union Pacific ended service here in 1971, and the building fell into a state of disrepair. Morrison-Knudsen Corporation purchased the depot in 1990, and using old plans and photographs, restored much of the depot to its original state. In January of 1996, the City of Boise took possession of the building and it is now used for special events in the evenings. | Kathryn Albertsons Park | | | Kathryn Albertson Park is a 41 acre special use park located southwest of downtown, just off Americana Blvd. This park has been designated as a passive use nature area. Most of the park is a restored riparian (wetland) habitat, with extensive interpretive walking paths along scenic lagoons and dense undergrowth. The Eyrie Gazebo is a smaller facility; partially enclosed with a log structure; pond with rock water fountain. The Rookery Gazebo is a larger facility; over-head shelter; historically marked Ponderosa Pine. | Boise Greenbelt | | | The Boise Greenbelt links over 850 acres of parks and natural areas along the Boise River, including a 25-mile long bicycle and pedestrian path, paved except for a 1.5 mile section from Barber Park downstream. Along the Boise Greenbelt are Barber Park, Municipal Park, Julia Davis Park, Ann Morrison Park and Kathryn Albertson Park, all offering a variety of recreation for visitors. | |
